Home Learning

At Harvest Home Primary School, we expect that our families are active partners in supporting the learning of their children. It is very important that families act as role models who have a passion for education and learning as this is a very influential determinant in the thoughts, attitudes, and motivation of students.

From Prep to Year 6 all students are expected to complete ‘Home Learning’ on a nightly basis.

Home learning typically involves the following:

  • Take Home Reading
  • OWL Words (Oxford Word List – Reading & Spelling)
  • Counting Goals
  • Online programs (i.e., Mathletics and/or Reading Eggs)

Home Learning is a very valuable part of our school program; however, we reiterate that this should be an enjoyable time where families and children can support and work together throughout their years of schooling. Celebrating what the student can demonstrate and achieve is a key component to building a positive relationship and developing a strong learning confidence.

Home Learning expectations vary depending on the year level of the student and are communicated at parent teachers interviews and via Compass.
