At Harvest Home Primary School camps, excursions and incursions are purposefully planned to enrich and enhance the school experience for all students. We provide a wide variety of experiences and opportunities for students to improve learning, engagement, and wellbeing outcomes.
These events provide a valuable experience for our students which are complementary to their learning, as they provide access to resources, environments and expertise that may not necessarily be available in the school or local area.
Camps*
Camps are extended excursions that involve overnight stays / accommodation. Harvest Home Primary School has a camping program from Prep – Year 6 that enables all students to enjoy a camping experience. As we have a partnership with the YMCA, we have exclusive access to many of the YMCA camp sites and activities.
More information about YMCA camps and locations can be viewed at: https://camps.ymca.org.au/
Our camping program includes:Prep: Morning BreakfastYear 1: Afternoon at SchoolYear 2: Breakfast, Day Excursion and AfternoonYear 3: one-night campYear 4 – 6: two-night camp
Excursions*
Excursions are activities organised by the school where the students are taken out of the school grounds for a day visit to an external site or school sports. Previous excursions include Werribee and Melbourne Zoo, Melbourne Aquarium, Tiny Chef, Science Works, Pevan & Sarah concert and many more.
Local Excursions
Local excursions are excursions to locations within walking distance of the school and do not involve ‘Adventure Activities’. As part of our school enrolment process, families can complete the Local Excursion Permission Form, which allows students to attend supervised local excursions that take place within walking distance of the school.
Incursion
An incursion is an activity that involves school visitors who provide a performance, lesson, or a service for students on the school grounds.
All information about camps, excursions and incursions communicated via the Compass portal. Consent forms and payments are also managed through Compass. In addition to consent and payment, families will need to complete a detailed student medical form for camps.
*Camps and Excursions may include adventure activities, which involve a greater than normal risk and have safety management plans in place, such as canoeing, ropes course, swimming, etc. All adventure based activities will be supervised by qualified staff.
For all camps and excursions, including adventure activities, Harvest Home Primary School follows the Department’s School Policy and Advisory Guide at Excursions and Activities.
We greatly value the contribution made by all staff and parent helpers in providing supervision and support for these important school events to take place.
