At Harvest Home Primary School, we strive to ensure our students have the capabilities necessary to thrive, contribute and respond positively to challenges and opportunities.
To support student wellbeing and to develop their ability to self-regulate, we have created and implemented a ‘How are you Feeling Scale’ and Toolbox.
Our feeling scale supports students to identify their current emotional state in relation to their readiness to learn. Each day, there are two scheduled check-ins with the homegroup teacher. In addition, students are encouraged to use the feeling scale throughout various times in the day if needed.
When self-regulation is required, students understand that they are able to select and use a strategy from their toolbox to assist them to return to learning, engage in a reflective conversation or approach a situation in a calmer manner. Our toolbox empowers students to identify their preferred self-regulation strategies and refer to them when needed.
