At Harvest Home, all students have access to digital devices to support their learning. This program compliments the learning opportunities for our students by allowing them to access their learning via a digital means. We work in partnership with families to keep up to date with the most current information and research regarding how technology and device use can best support learning.
The Harvest Home device program provides our students with improved access to learning technologies and online resources. Using technology has the potential to reshape teaching and learning processes and contribute significantly to enhancing both engagement and learning outcomes.
Year Level Device Access
Prep – Year 2 students: have access to a set of shared iPad per year level, which teachers borrow out and support students in using for certain learning areas.
Years 3 – 6 students: have access to their own personal Chromebook, provided by the school, which only they can access. This device remains at school at all times.
During Specialist sessions, iPads are available for those subjects requiring their use.
Through our programs, both Community and Specialist teachers design learning experiences, tasks and activities that utilise technologies with the objective of developing informed global citizens.
It is important to note that students will not be always using a device in their learning. However, students will have immediate access to these devices when and if required and suitable. Devices are also not a replacement for pen, pencils or paper.
The use of devices is accompanied with clear expectations about the responsible use and care of their devices. It is the school’s expectation that students will be responsible digital citizens and use technologies within our ‘Acceptable Use’ agreement. This helps to develop positive and responsible attitudes towards using technologies that will foster lifelong learning, personal growth, collaboration, and productivity.
Our digital safety lessons taught within our Learning Communities are supported by termly incursions run by Inform and Empower, a trusted eSafety provider, who provide safety lessons tailored towards each year level.
